I just noticed that everyone's animations are listed as being authored by their respective forum handles, but I get my full name for mine!
That's cool and all... but it makes me wonder... am I better known for "Andrew Kepple" than "TooMuchSpareTime" nowdays? Or is it just that everyone else is secretive about their "Clark Kent" alter egos? -------------------- :)

I always figured it was because you listed your real name in your flash videos, and that's why AB went with that. At least, that's what I did as I was guessing that's what you preferred.
I'm guessing most watchers know you as TMST, but that might have changed since you started including your name in your videos. Personally I prefer my handle to my real name since it's something I created rather than something my parents chose, but I'm strange like that. If I put my asian name in there, people would be very, very confused.
This is why I chose not to put my name on most things now days. -------------------- |

SP, you could've put your name as "Wooh O'Song" to sound extra Irish.

*Realizes the thread is trending more tword name origin*
Back in 2004ish I was working on an epic graphic novel and my then screen name was based on one of the characters I created, Tashunisu. Most of the characters names were back-masked to reveal something about them, though that particular one I made just because the syllabals sounded pretty cool together. I thought it was a nifty name, but it got me a lot of messages from creepers telling me they liked asian women. Eventually there was drama involving a psycho bitch stalker, and I ditched the name in favor of something new. I ended up picking another character from the same series I was working on, which is how I got Avid Lebon. Kinda funny, before I took the name she was mostly a background character, but afterward, I started building her story a heck of a lot more. All in all epic story became even more epic, and at this point I'm not sure if it will ever come to fully exist. Hmm, so many projects I want to work on, so little time to devote to a specific one. Edit: Good to know, I thought I must have been out of it the first time as my first post didn't have anything to do with the actual topic XD This post has been edited by AvidLebon: Mar 20 2010, 11:30 PM -------------------- |

I tend to dislike being called by my first name sometimes so I guess it's kind of natural for me to take to liking my online-name, with or without the invader part
some of my friends back in school just called me by my last name (Jolley) the crazy long repetitive part was an idea I got when some girl I didn't know very well started sort-of singing it one day (I think she was making a reference to the ice-cream man as a joke at me) I leave the invader part off on some sites now because of unwieldiness it was supposed to be like one of the invaders in the Irkin armada I'm not as big of a fan as I used to be of that show but some aspects seem to be integrated into my existence now ( none of you probably wanted to hear any of that but I wanted to play too :3 ) screen-names are so interesting I wish everyone online had a background story somewhere about coming up with there's that we could all read Granted, there are a lot of spontaneous, random (literally) names that wouldn't work, but I'm sure most had at least some thought behind them I encourage everyone else who wanders in here to tell us about yours as well -------------------- QUOTE(Chongablonga @ Aug 20 2008, 03:02 PM) This means that because you use IE, you're contributing more to global warming that you would if you used firefox, and are thus ruining the world. Also I think you once said something about it being "Nobel Diva" backwards. My previous screen-name, which began in gamer-comix forums, was "Sluggy". That was because I took the name "King Slug" when I signed up for an email address so I could join the forum (wow yeah I didn't have a general spammy email address back then lol - only my school one), the name I had given to a statue of a slug wearing a crown in one of the Commander Keen games. QUOTE(TooMuchSpareTime @ Mar 21 2010, 04:08 PM) Yep, I tried flipping a bunch of words around before I found one that I thought fit. The character is a singer, and overall good-guy morals so that one ended up working the best. Oddly most think it's a guys name, so instead of being mistaken for being a Japanese chick, now I'm usually mistaken for a dude. Meh, at this point I'm use to it. I think one reason I pick outlandish names is because I hate using a name that's already been taken and then throwing a bunch of numbers behind it. Adding numbers is a huge pet peeve of mine. I like being unique, and would rather not be the one-hundreth something April or Jenny. -------------------- |

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying, because everyone's name should be exactly what I like in a name otherwise it sucks. [/sarcasm]
I find backstory on names interesting, but what's really important is that they make whoever made them happy. I define myself through original characters, but if someone likes Naruto and doesn't mind typing those numbers when they log in, then it's up to them to take a name after one of their favorite characters. Not you boinky33, I mean like the poeople who NEED to put the numbers or the "-$~" sorts of effects to make their name because it was taken. Its super unoriginal and just plain stupid to me.
