I used to be able to use file >import > [scanner] to scan in images in Photoshop (version 6... yeah I need to buy a new version soon), but now that option has magically disappeared.

I reinstalled the TWAIN drivers for my scanner from their support site (Epson) but that didn't work either. I know my computer recognizes the scanner because I can use Epson's proprietary scanning software to scan in images.

Is there a way to import a scanner in Photoshop?

1) What's wrong with just scanning the picture from Windows/Epson program/scanner buttons and then importing the file into photoshop?

2) GIMP, FTW. Srsly, I dare you to find something in Photoshop 7 that can't be done in Gimp. Hell, even CS, and maybe CS2.

edit: but you've already got Photshop 6 and if that old crap floats your boat then stick with it. I realize that there's more to it than just "being able" to do something. You're used to a specific WAY to do something in PS and that will change drastically, even if the results don't. so meh.

There's nothing wrong with just using Epson's proprietary software, but I'm so used to going into photoshop and doing it that I'd much rather do it that way

[edit] Apparently I can scan in stuff from paint too, so odds are that this is a problem with photoshop and NOT with the scanner [/edit]

One of these days, I am going to pick up a chemistry book and buy whatever doctors use to painlessly put you instantly to sleep for like surgury and stuff, and I will take some of it, standing in a swimming pool. I have a PayPal account. Soon my heaven queen, we will be together in the sweet bliss of nigh.

http://paint.net/ <- Better than Photoshop, more free than Gimp. Windows pimped out MS Paint.
